About Raspberry Moon:

Raspberry Moon is a local band playing original music with a folk/folk rock/Country vibe. Vocals, with accoustic guitar for rhythm are accompanied by mandolin and electric guitar leads that weave their way through each track, with base guitar and percussion keeping everything tight, changing the atmosphere from ballad to rock as required.

Written by singer/songwriter Elaine Purse (vocals, accoustic guitar) songs with meaningful lyrics are supported by electric guitar (Simon Bernthal) and mandolin (Ian Parkinson) held together by Ramsay Cowan on bass guitar and percussionist Andy Goddard. The style changes from ballad to Country through complex instrumental interplay on tracks such as ‘This Heart Of Mine’ (EP ‘This Heart of Mine’) and ‘Ride The Open Road’ (Album ‘Lost At Sea’).

The EP ‘This Heart of Mine’ was released in February 2024 and album ‘Lost At Sea’ in June 2025 both featuring Chris Spratt (now sadly deceased) on mandolin. Recorded at Furnace Rooms, Church Oast, Sittingbourne.

Elaine’s lyrics are typically observations on relationships good and bad, love and loss as seen from the perspective of a ‘woman of a certain age’. Each track is a little story, e.g. recollecting the past and wondering how it’s going to turn out in the future (‘This Heart of Mine’), songs of hope (‘Someday’ and ‘I just don’t get it’) written after of the loss of her husband, a song of unconditional love to her children about to fly the nest (‘One by One’), an appeal to everyone to remember their humanity in the face of relentless othering (‘Stone Circles’). Hope, inspiration, tragedy and loss – snapshots of the human condition!
