About Strangeways:
Strangeways are one of the most exciting new guitar bands emerging from the UK’s grassroots scene, building a devoted following through ferocious, high energy live shows over the past two years.
As the name suggests, Strangeways are hard to pin down. Frontman Tom Turner has been described as a collision between Mick Jagger and Johnny Rotten, but it’s the all consuming nature of the band’s live performances that has seen them connect across generations. Blending raw rock ’n’ roll energy with sharp, modern songwriting, Strangeways have crafted a sound that feels familiar yet distinctly their own, driven by huge choruses that already have crowds shouting every word back at them.
Their breakout single “The Ponds” marked a major step forward, selling out its release show in memorable fashion and cementing the band’s reputation as a must see live act. Since then, they’ve sold out headline shows at venues including The Louisiana (Bristol), supported Carl Barât of The Libertines at the Amersham Arms, and played a sold out 100 Club show, underlining their rapid momentum.
Alongside growing live support, Strangeways have received early acclaim from tastemakers including CLASH and WONDERLAND, with their latest single “B.P.R.S.” also receiving airplay on BBC Introducing Kent. With more new music set for release this year, Strangeways are firmly establishing themselves as one of the most compelling and charismatic new live bands in the UK and a natural fit for festival stages.
In addition to their original material, the band also deliver high energy pub cover sets, bringing their signature intensity and crowd pleasing edge to classic tracks making them a versatile and electrifying choice for both original showcases and live party atmospheres.
